Hey folks, I hope that the last week has gone exceptionally well. We are pretty excited because thank you to our Music Director Ryan and a few other guys on the staff we finally have all of the new lockers built and ready to go! Just in time for the busy season to start.
This week I wanted to share a story with everyone. Now this is something that you have all either thought about or heard about at some point in the wedding planning process. The idea that I am talking about is the "do it yourself DJ." This is where couples will opt for just an "iPod wedding" or to have your friend's uncle provide the music for the event. Honestly, if you are looking to save a lot of money, this is probably the way you will want to go, however, you are looking to entertain your guests and want to make sure everyone has a great time, this may not always be the best option.
The only reason why I am touching on this subject this week is because this subject of debate just came up last weekend again. One of our supervisors was out and about checking in on our DJs and came across the Profile Event Center in Minneapolis that had two different weddings going on at the same time. In one room, there was a DJ, sound, lights, and the party was moving. In the other room, the bride and groom had opted to use their laptop. The same songs were playing over and over and no one was dancing.
Now I'm sure that you have heard this from any DJ company out there and to an extent they are all correct. The things that you need to think about when it comes to having an "iPod" or "do it yourself" wedding is the fact that a play list on a computer doesn't always cut it. You want to have fun and be as stress free as possible (emphasis on as possible) on your wedding day right? Usually with "iPod" weddings you will have to rent the sound (depending on where you are having your reception) set up the sound, tech the sound, make the play list of music, change the music if the original list doesn't work, designate someone to announce your first dance, and then tear it all down at the end of the night. Kind of a headache right?
Your wedding day is a big day, it's something that you want to make sure goes off perfectly or as perfectly as it can be. When you take the time to find a professional to come out and provide a service for your event, you will get professional results. If the notion of being able to choose any music on your laptop or iPod is appealing to you, just let us know that right away. We are always trying to accommodate you in any way that we can.
As I mentioned in the previous posting, we will have snapshots of different events coming up soon!
